We are very particular about our trainers.  Our trainers have been hand picked by Sally Cant and undergo a series of tests before they can train students, and they must have years of experience as a celebrant prior to being able to train. They come from a broad background and have a high level of skill in training. We are thrilled to introduce our trainers to you:

Julie

With over 20 years teaching experience and 11 years as a celebrant conducting over 700 weddings, Julie gets to combine her two loves into one, training celebrants!

My background in teaching is fundamental in providing quality training to celebrants; I understand that we are all at different levels, abilities and stages of our vocation and can adapt training to suit all. I love to laugh and have fun when training, sharing anecdotes and experience and focus on learners to make the most of their learning opportunities. About 10 to 15% of my couples are secondary students I taught over those years (a tough audience!) so I certainly do make a lasting impression and love to develop quality relationships! Teaching and training is such a passion of mine and I love to allow others to improve and shine.

I feel honoured to have been the first celebrant to marry a same sex couple in WA. It was a wonderful moment helping two people that have loved each other for 38 years have their relationship legally acknowledged. What a privilege it was.I lead a fairly simple, happy life surrounding myself with caring people. I love animals and have two horses that I dearly love. I am a down to earth person that is easy to get along with. My strengths are as a great negotiator, listener, creative thinker and being able to understand people’s needs. I love playing tennis, theatre, movies and dining out. I have been an equestrian coach for the last 20 years and have developed great rapport through this with a wide range of people. On a personal level I am so pleased that I am now able to marry all persons love, irrespective of their sexual orientation. Love is Love.

Nicole

Nicole Penning has been a vibrant and passionate Full-time Authorised Marriage Celebrant since 2009. Nicole is considered a leader and mentor within the Wedding Industry, advising new Celebrants on their practices and how to be the best Celebrant they can be. Nicole prides herself on knowing Marriage Law whilst always being friendly, warm and welcoming. Nicole has studied a Bachelor of Applied Science in Hospitality Studies at R.M.I.T, and worked in Restaurant, Hotel, Resort & Event Management, Sales & Recruitment.  Her background means she knows how to run an event – and all the challenging situations and diverse personalities they entail! With over 25 years’ public speaking experience, she is comfortable in front of a crown or just as seamlessly is able to strike up raport easily one-on-one. We challenge you to find someone that loves being a Celebrant, just as much as Nicole! She lives, breathes and sleeps celebrancy, she would eat it if she could!

Marriage and Funeral celebrancy is my full time profession 24/7, 365 days a year (well, nearly!) and has been for some 15 years. As both a Mount Tamborine Marriage Celebrant and Gold Coast Marriage Celebrant, I thoroughly enjoy meeting a couple for the first time, over a coffee or tea, to hear your love story and your ideas for your dream ceremony.  There is such a sense of joy in creating and bringing your story to life, a story which reflects your personalities and represents who you truly are as a couple. Creating a ceremony  presented with warmth, dignity and always a little sense of fun.  My role is to work with you both towards an epic event, your wedding day.  I love the anticipation and enthusiasm at the rehearsal and, on your big day, the overall excitement of everyone involved. Together with my husband Ron, we have a large, blended, glorious family (5 children with theirs and 10 beautiful grandchildren).  As a family we have shared many joyous moments although we have also shared much sadness and many tears.  These shared memories are the souvenirs of our hearts and have united us with love, warmth, empathy and strength and has made us all into the individuals we are today.

Ingrid
I have been a passionate Marriage Celebrant since 2010 and Funeral Celebrant since 2016. Celebrancy is a profession where you are tasked with telling someone else’s story, sometimes in trying times and sensitive times, and that is very much a privilege and a role I take great pride in. This certainly flows into my work as a celebrant trainer. To help guide and facilitate new and existing celebrants to be the best they can be, authentic, professional and good at what they do whilst adhearing to all the codes of practice to ensure a high standard of service, this is and will be a great thing for our industry for years to come. Because to have all of us as brilliant celebrants, not just “good” celebrants is nothing but awesome for our awesome industry.

Becoming a Celebrant is the best decision I have ever made. I love people and I love weddings and being a celebrant enables me to give each couple a unique and personal ceremony. It is a privilege when a couple chooses me as their Celebrant.

I was born and raised on the West Coast of Scotland before moving to live in Melbourne Australia and because of my heritage I have the ability to speak with both an Australian and Scottish accent at will. Therefore I am able to offer a Scottish flavour to any wedding or not which ever you prefer.

I am heavily involved in a local female choir and was their President for 8 years. I love to sing with the choir as it gives you this wonderful feeling of accomplishment to blend voices and produce this wonderful sound.

Being President of the choir for many years has given me the ability and confidence to speak publicly, being MC for many of our wonderful events. I have a genuine interest in people and love getting to know them and their stories. (Don’t worry I won't burst into song!).

After a satisfying and successful career in Secondary Education, I began conducting funerals in 2005 and became an Authorised Marriage Celebrant in 2006.

Membership of Australian Marriage Celebrants (AMC) and the Funeral Celebrants Association Australia (FCAA) and volunteer leadership roles within each have strengthened my Celebrant skills and knowledge. Member of Independent Funeral Planners.

I am anticipating the pleasure of further rewarding work with you, future celebrants, through Life Skills Training and The Celebrants Training College. I am also a professionally trained artist

I’m a full-time marriage and funeral celebrant. I also love being a fully qualified trainer. My early career roles as an English and Drama teacher, coupled with later becoming a senior exec in state and local government for almost 20 years, have ensured I’ve picked up a few skills that are pretty handy as a trainer. My husband, Clint, and I are parents to our beloved rescue kelpie, Bingo, aged five. In my spare time, I’m a vegie gardener, foodie and piano player. Like lots of people my age, I’ve experienced some fabulous, exhilarating times, of course. But on the other hand, I’ve also experienced significant losses, which makes me a better celebrant and trainer.

As a trainer, I love getting to know the people I train – and I strive to get them to leave my training sessions delighted they came and wanting more!
